The Oaks RV Park Yemassee SC

The Oaks  is a park in need of a lot of work.  Some of the worst pot holes we ever encountered going into and in the park itself. Pots holes full of water and very muddy throughout. The site we were on we needed about a 30 foot sewer hose. So be prepared.  The pool was green.  We had a problem with the cable.  The reason we stay in this park is that it is right off I 95, and we pass through here at least twice a year, and with our Thousand Trails membership it is free for us.  Most of the sites are long enough that you don’t need to unhook, also making it convenient. I just hope some upgrades can be made very soon. They also except Passport America. It is dog friendly. The pictures do not show the pot holes, my boo boo.

Carolina Crossing RV Park Roakoke Rapadis NC

This is a very nice park just off interstate I 95. Nicely place hookups. We have a paved site fairly level. There are some gravel site. The pool area is very nice. Site long enough so we didn’t have to unhook.  No privacy between sites, sites fairly close. That being said it was great for us for a overnight while traveling I 95  Cost $21.25 The rate reflects Passport America.  There is a large enclosed dog park. We had a full hookup pull thru site with cable TV.

Spring Gulch RV Park, New Holland, PA.

This is a park divided into two sections, the upper and lower areas. The lower sections is a old park setting with rigs pulled in side by side. The upper section appears to be newer.  We stayed in the up the hill as they called it. It was a steep hill, but wide and paved. The sites were bigger than average in many commercial parks.  Hookups were nicely placed. The site was gravel, fairly level. There are trees and bushes between many of the sites.  There are also a lot of seasonal sites.  I was told the sites up on the hill cost between $68 and $72.. We paid $35. with our Thousand Trails membership that allows us a 50% discount at Encore parks for a limited number of days.   The lower section cost  a little less,  not sure of the price.  This is a very nice park if you are up on the hill. For us the lower section is just a old RV Park. The park is dog friendly with many acres to walk a dog. There are two pools. There is a picnic table and fire ring. Date of stay July 2015

On the road again

On the road again. Well almost. Finally good news. After many false starts we received good news from Linda's doctors. We could go on a road trip for 4 weeks. We tried for 5, but no just 4. We will be on the road for the 4th of July, not the most ideal day to start our trip back to Pennsylvania. Almost said home, after all  we were PA residents for almost 70 years( I should have said a very long time).
What a difference it is to pack the RV compared to living in one when everything we owned was with us at all times. Its like taking the kids on vacation and asking a 100 questions if they remembered to pack some important item.  Well Linda and I have been doing that for the passed couple of days. Basically the RV is packed except for some clothing, food, medications and us. It is hurricane ready to leave on short notice.. Our escape mode of transportation if we are here in Florida and see a hurricane heading for FL But with the excitement of being ready since February when we planned a six month trip out west we  were acting like it was our first trip ever. We will leave on the 4th hoping most folks are were they want to be by then. After 350 miles or so we will pull into a RV park till Monday then continue our trip back to PA. Hopefully this will work out ok. We do have reservation all the way back to PA. . We are braking that rule of ours, never never travel over a holiday, but that's just the way the cards fell. We don't like traveling with reservation, but there are exceptions. The hardest thing for us was finding a house sitter for a month in a gated 55+ community on short notice. But we did have someone lined up.  We are just happy that Linda is well enough to travel. Not sure how much we will be blogging about since we will mostly just be visiting with family.
