The road ahead
I don't think she was praying for us as a little while later we had a blow out on a rear inside tire. Or maybe she was because it could have been a lot worst.
We already unhooked the car, and Bob grabbed one our fire extinguisher before the fire department arrived. We had to call the fire department before a tire service truck could be sent out, because of possible leaking gas. There was some gas on the road from the broken gas fill line. By the time the fire department arrived it evaporated. About the same time the tire service truck arrived. Linda was to shook up to take more photo's. It was amazing how the traffic didn't slow down even with the fire truck sitting along the highway. The tire was a major brand and we just turned 20,000 miles on the odometer. The tread peeled off. This happened on 4th of July eve. Linda got on the phone and found a RV Park at the next exit. She called and they had a space for us (see in another blog). We didn't want to travel without a spare tire. We never, never, until now, travel over a holiday. This happened about 15 miles from Missoula MT. Many tire stores in Missoula. We did want to go to the same brand name store we had on the RV, and did get a wear adjustment on the tire. We learned several lessons from this. One we were traveling about twice as far as we normally travel in a day. We try to limit our travel to around 200 miles a day. Also never travel around a holiday. We knew this and broke our own rules. A lesson well learned.
