Mar/Arp LA/TX

April 4, 2009
Hi Everyone. Just a little update.
After we left Lafayette LA. we headed to Kinder LA. to the Coushetta Casino and the Red Shoe Indian RV Resort. What a great place. Bob did do some fishing here and it was good. They have a small lake. Jim and Linda Sullivan were with us for 5 days. The Casino had a Crawfish Boil on Friday nights. We all learned to eat CRAWFISH. Jim really enjoyed them. The rest of us just thought it was ok and to much work. Of course we all played a few machines. Both of us had our RV site compted, we each got to food vochers and cash when we checked out. We stayed 10 days because they had a special pay for 3 nights and get 2 free. You could us the coupon for to stays, but we were compted for the 10 days.
From there we went to South Toledo Bend State Park on the TX.,LA. border. This again was a nice park. Again Bob tried fishing but it was windy. We both had visits to the ER, no walk in emergy care around that area, had to use the ER Bob's ear was blocked and Linda had a very stiff neck. Both of us are fine now. We checked out a few other RV parks but we weren"t impressed. After 10 days here we headed to Livingston, TX. to the Escapee's home park ( this is where we volunteered 2 years ago). It was great to see the participents again. We ate many meals at the CARE center and played Farkel many nights with them.
They had a huge 3 day garage sale to benefit the Care Center. We voluneered to help, one day to set up and three to work the sale. They had a great turn out. It was also the Health Fair, we had many tests done, including our eyes checked and a mamo for Linda.b They Had a dessert auction of cakes, bcookies etc. bCookies ( 3 doz) went for $ 500. and fudge went for $350.b They made a lot of money for CARE. There is practice here where they all go to the cemetery to clean it up and have a potluck lunch after and just have a good time visiting with each other. At CARE they had a Memory and music night with a potluck dessert. They had candles you could light in memory of someone and a couple from the park played music in between and everyone ate dessert. It was very nice.
By the way we did get rid of our beads, we donated them to CARE. They sold them at the garage sale for $15. a milk crate full.
Tomorrow the 6th we are leaving here and heading deeper into the heart of TX. where we will spend the next 3 weeks before heading north to Alaska. A lot depends on the weather . We are not in a hurry right now to get to South Dakota.
From the dogs: We'll be on the move again. We think we've been here before.
But since we can't read or use a map we're not sure. But there sure are familiar smells. We also had a visit to the vet, the one Lilly visited 2 yrs ago. We had our shots. Lilly said she knew him but you know she is getting old and mixes up things. Blazer "I have to get behind Lilly and give her a goose to get up the steps. She is getting old."
