Off on a new adventure part 1- Fl to AL

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." Mark Twain.
And with that in mind we are off on a new adventure. After a delayed start of two days, we are on the road again. We traveled 289 miles to our first stop in Qunicy FL. We stayed at a Passport American RV Park about 1/4 mile off I 10. A long travel day for us. The truck ran great and I got better diesel mileage then before. I averaged 11.3 to 11.7 mpg. Before I averaged 10 to 10.2 mpg. Linda averaged between 38 and 39 mpg.
The next day, Wednesday, we drove 228 miles to Clanton AL., about 1/4 mile off I 65. We must like road noise! We stayed at a KOA, which we usually avoid. This one is a little different. We will do a review on all the parks we stayed at in the future. On the way to Clanton we saw many billboards with adds for Sikes and Kohn. We decided to stop and check it out. They had a large lot with enough room for  RVs, buses and trucks.

Nice store with many name brand shoes, boots, jeans, sneakers, etc. I did find a pair of SAS sneakers and Linda found a pair of sandals. there were hundreds of styles to choose from. The store was located in Pine Level AL. See the picture of the unusual sign.

Very heavy storms were predicted for the next day here in AL and in the Nashville TN area our next planned stop. So we decided to stay another day, as we didn't want to drive in heavy rain. A good move, but we had tornado warnings for about six hour in our area. We had very heavy rains from about noon to about 9PM. But on the bright side we are ok and didn't have to drive in the bad weather. In Alabama with many small hills my mileage dropped to 11 mpg. Linda maintained 38 mpg. State tuned- Nashville next.
