While staying at Northwood RV Park for just an overnight we wanted to check out the area. We asked the campground owner what we shouldn't miss in the area. We only had an afternoon and evening. She suggested the Canal Park in Duluth MN. So off we went and found a really nice city park along Lake Superior. It was a bright sunny day with a lot of locals enjoying the waterfront park. There is a lift bridge which is a big attraction. The super freighters pass through this channel, and you could almost reach out and touch them. The afternoon we were there no super freighter were scheduled to go through, but there was a lot of other boat traffic. We did see the bridge go up two times while we were there.
There is a nice Corp of Engineers Maritime Museum in the park. We did spend about an hour seeing all the artifact's. We also walked the shops and restaurant row. We had a nice dinner at one of the patio restaurants. Can't remember the name for sure, but believe it was Grandma's.
Two small light house on the entrance of the channel
A super neat older wooden boat.
The city of Duluth
A lot of boat traffic, note the waves
A nice day at the park.
Next, Detroit Lakes Minnesota. Thanks for following along.
