Houghton and Hancock Michigan

With our RV microwave/convection oven replaced and our mail caught up with us we headed for the Keweenaw Peninsula and the city of Houghton. Our destination was the Houghton City park. A trip of about 100 miles.  Fellow bloggers Bob and Jo are also at the city park. So after setting up we went over to meet them. With only 22 sites in the park it wasn't hard to find them. You can see their blog here    bobandjotravelblog.blogspot.com/   After getting acquainted we headed out to explore the area.

We will review this RV Park in another blog, but won't tell you how much we love this park. With only 22 sites if to many of our rving friends come here, there may not be room for us to return. Well here is one teaser photo. This is at the back of our RV, overlooking the Portage Lake Canal.

The Finn Fest festival  was ending and we wanted to see some of the events. There is a tie with Houghton and Finland. We just got to see most of the vendors packing up their wares. Oh well a reason to come back.

Parts of the  Finn Fest was held at the Michigan Technological University, home of the Huskies. And you just never know who you will run into. But Bob is always trying to make new friends.

Many of the street signs in Houghton's sister city of Hancock have street names in both English and Finnish. There is also Finlandia University in Hancock. See www.finlandia.edu
